I first became conscious of this sorta 'Sunday Blues' in 7th grade... though family evidence suggests I may have struggled with it for much of my early school years.

It was, straight up, fear of the school: It had less to do with productivity than with trying to guess which performative mode would be best accepted--or least hassled-- in the cutthroat pre-teen petri dish that combined the teachers, most of whom had survived the '60's with their moral dudgeon intact, the upperclass students trying their best to top their hippy uncle in shocking anyone over 30, and us, ratcheting up the hormone catapult, itching in double-knit polyester our parents thought were nice (cheap) trying to figure out just what the hell was going on...
