I think editors ought do themselves a favor and straightforwardly tell writers why they were rejected. Mostly, on Medium, it's done in silence and this leaves the writer wondering.

In doing this, editors leave open the possibility--indeed, the probability-- that the writer will submit the next piece with the same mistakes.

It might cost a little time upfront, but would, I think, save time overall as the quality of submissions increases.
