It can be the difference between immoral and amoral: The former is disordered morality and the latter is the absence of morality.

The immoral believes that the wrongful act that he/she commits is actually a right act. For instance, the Klan believes they are protecting something righteously.

The amoral doesn’t care. For instance, the taunter will use the ‘n-word’ not because he/she cares one way or the other, but because of the provocation of it: the reaction it invokes.

Amorality might mean you’re not a racist, but it doesn’t mean your any better at being human and/or humane than the racist.
