It's very simple: Men are stupid.
All it takes to make a man laugh is for someone to drop a heavy object on another mans foot. That's about it for the entire spectrum of 'male humor'. Any sophistication to male humor varies only with the difference in weight, shape and heft of the dropped object, placement of injury and the relative antics of the injured, but not by much.
Think about this: It's why they are called 'punchlines.'
It's an easy --if violent-- niche, that doesn't require any cranial heat, which makes men uncomfortable.
Of course, Amy Shumers' comedy is about negotiating a world where mens humor rules are de rigor... and she has breasts... so any males in the audience are usually stuck a beat or two behind her: first as their brains try to get used to the notion that someone with breasts can talk about anything and then at the actual cognitive effort required to keep up with what she's saying.
I remember, very clearly, watching Caroline Leifer on one of the late night shows (might have been Carson) back in the day, with a friend. Leifer would start by saying, "I don't have any kids,' wait a beat and say, "at least, none that I know of..." which was a commonplace brag males made back in the day... I thought it was hilarious. My friend, Tony, was all like, "I don't get it."
