Well... in a manner of moving forward, I'm compelled to agree with a lot of what you say, not least because of how well written it is. However...

...First, I don't wish to elide the sheer outrageous bravery of the founding fathers. What they did in their time was, well for lack of a better term, epic. It's all too easy for us think of the Declaration of Independence and/or the Constitution as old hat because we've lived with it for so long and know all its wrinkles, faults and care-lines. But in the mid-1700's it was all new and not only had to be created it had to be defended and nurtured. If that isn't deserving of at least a nod to mythos, I don't know what is.

...Secondly, In two hundred some odd years (if we survive) what legacy of our present world will be vilified by progressives of that age? Probably a great deal. Certainly, how white people continued to treat our black and brown brothers and sisters... and all bets are off on how they will view our views on sexuality and intersectionality. Some think it is also the manner in which we treat the environment. Others think it may be our 'modern' methods of factory farming especially as relates to livestock.

And, not for nothing, Angelica Schulyer does sing "my only job is to marry rich" So I think there is a knowingness to the place women held at that time, because that's how absolute it was.
