Writing is only one half of the equation. Prior to the internet, reading (the other half, in case you dint notice) was mitigated through advertisement... which is a poor method of guesstimation.

The beauty of Medium is that reading is measured also.... I probably spend more time reading on Medium than I do writing. And I appreciate that writers like you, Roz, read comments and feedback.
