Your new diagnosis of ‘the problem’ @krisgage may or may not be valid, but it is certainly a far cry from that to which I was responding, you said to wit:
Have something to say. Make it something different and/or interesting, and something you feel strongly about.
I believe I have done that. You seem to believe that anyone having done that should be ’popular.’ I don’t think that’s the case. None of what I wrote could fit into the categories of boring simpleminded childish mush you inveighed against and which you categorized as ‘no good’ and ‘without voice’ and is the only reason — according to the very title of your piece — ‘why your writing isn’t doing well.’
So, I’m challenging you to read more of what I wrote (I’m going to read more of your stuff) and see for yourself if I’m not different, have my own voice and feel strongly about something. I dare say you will find some things of interest. If that is what you really want, rather than simply being an authorial bully, you should stretch yourself a little.
